Foodgasm: MIGA Ü

"Where to eat?"

Probably the most difficult question to answer every lunch break if I am with my college friends. We love to eat. Every break time, it is a need for us to eat. I guess it has become our habit.
Yesterday, just like our usual routine, we consumed almost 30 minutes to decide where to eat lunch. We decided to just eat fast foods since we couldn't make up our minds on what we want to eat at that time. Yes, we are that difficult sometimes.

Actually, my friends have already planned to go to a Korean restaurant, but I was not really comfortable with it. I'm tight with money these days because I've been saving and I have a target amount to save every week. And I'm sure foreign restaurants are quite expensive. But after some small deals with these chingus, I eventually gave in. Ugh, I should be more firm next time. The problem is, we don't know any Korean restos nearby. All I know is, there are lots of those in Lahug. So of course, nothing can stop us, we went all the way to Lahug. Good thing, there are really lots of Korean restos there. We decided to eat in the first Korean restaurant we saw, Miga. It is just across USPF.

When we went inside the resto, I immediately felt the excitement. It is just a small restaurant with tables and chairs. One of my friends actually preferred tables only so we can just squat on the floor, feeling Koreans, haha. Anyways, so we went inside and there were a few customers. I can only see one Korean guy, along with his friends whom I supposed were not foreigners. I saw them grilling meat strips on their table and I was feeling all giddy. I felt like I was in some korean drama, LOL. We sat down, trying to look like we were not nervous and excited at all. The waitress, which was a Filipina (thank God! I thought we would have a hard time communicating with the people here), handed us the menu. And just by looking at it, we knew we're going to have a good meal. There are lots to choose from and all the food pictures looked so good and appetizing. If only we had lots of money, we could have ordered all of it.

So we started pointing our fingers to each of our liking. We all wanted to have samgyupsal or grilled meat strips so we could have the chance to do the grilling right there on our table. It cost Php200 per order. I wanted to order jjajangmyun or the black bean noodles because I see that in almost in every korean drama and it's one of the cheapest in the menu, Php120, sadly, it wasn't available. I just ordered ramyun instead which cost just the same. We ordered rice too, plus spicy beef noodle soup, Php200. For our drinks, we end up ordering service water despite the long list of different kind of beverages in the menu because of our limited money.

We didn't wait long. Our orders went to our table one by one. First, we were served with our precious service water and side dishes. Oh side dishes! There were three kinds of side dishes: fried potatoes/mojos, kimchi (of course it's a must) and that one I have no idea what was but has become my favorite. It was some kind of white thin circles soaked with vinegar. The surprising thing was, even with the vinegar, it was sweet, really sweet. Among my friends, I was the most happy one with that dish.

We also used chopsticks though we were not sure if we were holding it right but whatever, as long as we could try all these strange foods then it's fine. Soon our orders were all set on our table and we began the most exciting part, grilling the raw meat. I swear it took us a lot of effort to eat and grill at the same time. We were afraid to burn the meat so we took turns in grilling. If we were practicing the Korean culture, the youngest/maknae should be the one doing all this grilling so we were picking on our youngest in the group, telling her she should be serving us because we are her unnis. It was really fun.

The food were all so goooood, not even bluffing. We ate the meat with rice and lettuce, Korean style. It was really good! There was a nice combination of veggie and meat. The spicy beef noodle soup was good too and there were lots of other ingredients mixed I didn't know what I was eating anymore, haha. Then the ramyun was surprisingly really good! It was really spicy, I loved it. In fact, we asked for another tumbler of service water because of the spiciness of the dishes. Honestly, I don't know if I can eat other noodle soup other than that ramyun. It was that good. Huhu, I'm craving for it right now.

We were all full after eating. We paid Php800 in total, but very worth it. Next time, when I'm sad, I'll go there and have a buffet of all those foods!

We still had time before our class, so we walked for awhile, hoping to find a Korean convenient store so we can buy some Korean ice creams. We were hopeless when we reached I.T Park. Instead of a Korean convenient store, we ended up in 7Eleven. We bought drinks and had a chitchat before going back to school.

Them feeling oh so happy with the foods.
