This show is so frustrating I love it! We're down to the last 9 episodes and thank God that in the recent episode, we finally got to know Trash Oppa's real feelings towards Na Jeong. I just love this episode, especially the last part, I've rewatched it thrice already, ha. Plus, this episode is much longer than usual, about one and half an hour.
Trash and Chilbong had a ball game-turned-confrontation regarding their feelings for Na Jeong. Trash admitted that he too liked Na Jeong and thanked Chilbong for making him come back to his senses. He proclaimed that he would confess to Na Jeong before someone steals her from him. But Chilbong said the game isn't yet over and that he won't give up. He doesn't want to be an idiot and let Na Jeong be stolen. The conversation was heating up and these two were being sarcastic with serious faces, so much tension!
It was Trash's turn to throw the ball and Chilbong signaled him with the 'walk', which is something to do with the game, baseball. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of baseball, therefore I couldn't make out of what did Chilbong mean by it. But you could see on Oppa's face that he was kind of put off with that signal.
To end the episode, Oppa started his voice over.
Love and life are a lot like baseball. Even if you come up against a critical sweep, no matter how hard you try to avoid it... in the end, someone has to win for the competition to be over. One-sided love, your heart aches but you do it alone so there's no other way, whether you win love or get dumped heartlessly, if you want to end the one-sided love, the only way to do it is through confession. It's over only after you confront it. Love perhaps resembles baseball. And...
Cut to Chilbong's baseball game on the field. Their team was on its way to victory. Chilbong was the pitcher and the catcher was signaling him with four fingers down and again, I don't know what that means. The battler had a free walk but seemed like it was no big deal because Chilbong got a plan. Then went the next battler. The catcher signaled him one finger down and he agreed. He threw the ball and the battler hit it good, it went far. Chilbong's team lost.
Oppa's voice over continued,
And... the world is wide and the rivals are many. Perhaps, love resembles baseball.
I want to think this is foreshadowing. That a new and unexpected rival would win the game of love, instead of them two. And who could that be?
The next scene went to Na Jeong and her bestfriend in the making, Haitai, having a heart-to-heart talk with beers. And out of the blue I wondered whose room is this, surely not Na Jeong's. So Haitai talked about his failed attempt to sleep with his crush. He said he would never make a move ever again unless a girl confesses to him first. She then said that, that's what Lee Jung Jae did in the drama, he never got to confess his feelings to the girl and ended up dying instead. But wait, didn't Na Jeong say that his ideal guy is Lee Jung Jae's drama character in the first part of this episode? Ha!
The talk went serious when Na Jeong asked if she's not pretty enough for Trash to look at her. To this, Haitai answered,
If it were me, I would have dated you. If we hadn't become such good friends like this, I would have.
There was an awkward silence between the two. Haitai broke the silence, saying that what he meant was that Trash must be a real brute not to notice a nice girl like her. She smiled. He then said to her not to worry much because Trash likes her as well. He told her that the reason why Trash can't accept her feelings is because of their brother-sister relationship. Na Jeong was surprised at first but didn't believe it. She just laughed it off. The two went to their usual moments, bickering each other. The new OST 'Can't Have You' by Hi.ni started playing for the first time in the background and so I cried. I don't know if it's just me but the English trans of this song fits the Na Jeong-Haitai story so well. The song does likely describe Na Jeong's potential future feelings for Haitai.
Haitai voiced over.
But of course, there are many more one-sided loves in this world that never get confessed at all. Those fools, who know how to get out of one but cannot do it. That's why one-sided loves pain the heart.
Does this mean Haitai could be the unexpected battler to win the whole game? Gasp! It's official. I'm now sailing on Team Haitai. The
thing about his character is that, among the two, he’s the most thoughtful to Na Jeong. While Trash and Chilbong are busy going head-to-head against each
other, Haitai is the one who’s there to comfort her on her confused times. He
doesn’t think of winning Na Jeong, in fact, he was even the one who told Na
Jeong that Trash also likes her. He may act as if he’s just a friend right now,
but who knows.
I can actually see Na Jeong falling for Haitai as their friendship deepens. Plus, Na Jeong said her
ideal guy is someone like Lee Jung Jae's drama character, someone who looks after her and protects her silently, hmmm. Wouldn’t it
be interesting if the guy she has been looking for is neither the love of
her life nor the guy who likes her but actually the one who has been there all
along, her bestfriend?
I just hope the writers don't mess up with the story for the sake of viewers' ratings. I was happy when it was said that the script until the last episode has already been written which means, the mysterious husband has already been decided. Hurrah! I love Trash. I love Chilbong too. But as of this moment, I want to ship Na Jeong with Haitai.
