Yeah, I just watched Flipped. I've already posted my thoughts about the book not so long ago. I seriously love the book I think I could re-read it again. I know there's a movie adaptation of it, in fact, I've watched it so long ago I couldn't remember watching it anymore. Just to refresh my mind and see if the movie gave justice to my favorite novel, I tried watching it again.
Fortunately, I wasn't disappointed with the movie. It's one of the best movies I've watched, hee. I even put it as my favorite movie in my Theatre Arts class' character analysis. I think it's wonderfully directed. The movie didn't lose the book's charm, the she-said-he-said narrative way of telling the story. Callan McAuliffe and Madelline Carroll looked so good together, I'm totally a fan of them both! I was shocked to see their biography and discovered we're on the same age range, dang! What have I been doing all this time? Anyway, they seem to be nice people too. The setting is gorgeous, you know, I always have a thing for period films.
Some of my favorite lines from the book still came out from the movie, and I'm very much happy about that. I cried twice. First, when Juli's parents started to have a fight during dinner, I empathize easily when it comes to family conflicts, I don't know why. Second was during the end part. When Juli walked out the door, then both Bryce and Juli were narrating their thoughts about each other and then they started planting the sycamore tree then Bryce held her hand and they looked at each other and smiled, it was too sweet and innocent. I loved the ending so much, really a very heartwarming film! I was happy but I couldn't stop crying.
Also, I see what they did with the transition from Bryce to Juli, it flipped. Literally.
