Ghost The Musical. I reaaaaaaally want to watch this! And it's so timing that I'm studying Theatre Arts this semester, too. This is the Korean version of the broadway musical which is based on the 1990's film, Ghost starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore.
To be honest, I don't think I'd be interested with this musical if not for Joo Won, ha. Joo Won started as a musical actor and his last one was still on 2009 Spring Awakening. So this is gonna be the first time he's performing on stage after four years.
Ghost The Musical will run from November until August next year. Joo Won, and other two musical actors, will perform as Sam. Pop singer Ivy and musical actress Park Ji Yeon will perform as Molly. What makes this musical different is its high end technology of video imagery, special effects, and the live magic and illusions on stage.
The tickets are almost sold out already for this year's schedule. And so far, there are only good reviews about the show. During the VIP showing, politicians, celebrities and some of Joo Won's previous co-stars went to support him such as Uhm Tae Woong, Uhm Jung Hwa, Choi Kang Hee, Moon Chae Won, Kim Min Seo, 2PM Chansung and others.
Here are some of the photos taken during the public rehearsal.
Joo Won always says in his interviews that performing in musicals is his first love. Since he debuted in tv with his first drama, BKKTG, he has already been telling his agency that he'd want to go back to musicals. Of course this wasn't easily made possible by the agency because of the other projects offered which they could much more benefited, rather than just letting him perform in musicals. That's true. My Theatre Arts teacher once said that there's actually no money in theatrical plays. The actors stay because of their dedication and passion for acting. I respect Joo Won for being that kind of actor.
In a poll conducted, Joo Won was voted as the most successful theatre actor who turned celebrity over Jo Jeong Seok, Kang Ji Hwan, Lee Seon Kyun (my other fave!) and others. I realized he's the youngest among them, but still voted as the most successful. Proud fan here!
