Film Review: [Korea] Cyrano Agency

One of the very few works of Park Shin Hye that I like. I'm not a hater though. I mean, she's pretty and seems nice but her acting is always just meh, for me.

Cyrano Agency, starred actors Uhm Tae Woong, Lee Min Jung, Daniel Choi and Park Shin Hye. The movie is about an agency which hooks up couples using their love tactics. In short, an agency who acts cupid, with a script. One day, Sang Yong (Daniel Choi), seek help from Byeong Hun's (Uhm Tae Woong) Cyrano Agency to hook him up with Hee Jung (Lee Min Jung). The thing is, Hee Jung is Byeong Hun's ex-girlfriend.

I learned many things from this movie, honestly. And it made me like UTW more. Well, I knew him as one of Joo Won's hyung and close friend but I don't think I have watched any of his films (Ah! I remember watching him in 'Architecture 101')

Anyway, the movie was funny. My brother, who also watched the movie, actually laughed more than I did. Maybe because he could relate more to it since the movie is more male-centered, I don't know.

The director, Kim Hyun Seok, is actually known for having troubled male protagonists in his films. In Cyrano Agency, he explored the feelings of a man who learns to let go of his ex-lover. Though it's a rom-com, it can make you cry. At least, that's what it did to me. I didn't care if my brother could see me crying, it was sad and heartbreaking!

It was also pretty smart how they gave a back story of why Cyrano. Cyrano, is a classic fiction character, who is an amazing writer but has an ugly and monstrous face. Because he has no confidence to face the girl he likes, he uses his friend Christian to express his feelings. It connected to the resolution of the movie so well, I liked it.
